AMA Arenacross Series Rules

The Arenacross Lites and Arenacross Class are governed by the Monster Energy AMA Supercross an FIM World Championship 2014 Rule Book with AMSOIL Arenacross supplemental rules intact.

SOUND REQUIREMENTS: (Per SAE J1287 standard)
The maximum sound limit is set at:
Max. 96 dB/a for motorcycles with a 2-stroke engine
Max. 94 dB/a for motorcycles with a 4-stroke engine
2 additional dB/a will be allowed in post race inspection.

EQUIPMENT:
A motorcycle may be entered by the same rider in multiple classes.  Approved equipment in the Arenacross Lites and Arenacross Class is in accordance with the AMA racing regulations for motorcycle homologation.

Arenacross.com 50cc 4-8  4-8 yrs 50 jr. and 50 sr. bikes are permitted in this class
*AMSOIL Dominator Supermini 9-15 yrs 79cc-112cc 2-stroke, 75cc-150cc 4-stroke
A motorcycle may be entered by the same rider in multiple classes.











*Competitors 9 thru 11 years of age are only allowed to use a 79cc-85cc 2- stroke Minicycle if participating in this class.
*Competitors 12 thru15 years of age are allowed to use either a 79cc-112cc 2-stroke, 75cc-150cc 4-stroke if participating in this class.

RACE NUMBER:
The top 20 riders from the previous year's Arenacross Class points standings are required to run the number that they earned unless a rider has earned an AMA career number. All other numbers are reserved on a first come first serve basis. Sign up for an official registered 2014 AMSOIL Arenacross race number when you purchase your annual series credential. *White plate, black numbers
*Current Champion:  White plates, black no 1
*Points Leader:  Red plates, white numbers  

Arenacross Lites Class
*Black plate, white numbers
*Current Champion: Black plate, white 1E or 1W depending on region earned.
*Points Leader: Red plates, white numbers

QUALIFYING ARENACROSS LITES CLASS:
Arenacross Lites qualifying consists of timed qualifying practice, two heat races, one LCQ and one Final (Main Event).

Main Event Points:
1st = 16 5th = 12 9th = 8 13th = 4
2nd = 15 6th = 11 10th = 7 14th = 3
3rd = 14 7th = 11 11th = 6 15th = 2
4th = 13 8th = 9 12th = 5 16th = 1









RACE TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP:
At the conclusion of round 8 in Reno, NV., the championship points for the top 10 riders in the Arenacross class will reset to reflect the below grid. Top 10 in class standings at this point will be the only competitors eligible for the AMSOIL Arenacross Championship.

QUALIFYING ARENACROSS CLASS:
Arenacross Class qualifying consists of timed qualifying practice, two heat races, one LCQ and TWO MAIN EVENTS. Race formats with the set laps will be distributed at each event.

AIN EVENT 1 & 2:
* Points will be awarded individually for each main event. The Overall Arenacross Class finish for the event will be determined by combining the total championship points earned from Main Event 1, Main Event 2 & the Head to Head Brackets. In the event of a tie for any position, the rider with the higher finish in Main Event 2 will be placed above the rider with the lower finish.

MAIN EVENT POINTS:
1st = 16 5th = 12 9th = 8 13th = 4
2nd = 15 6th = 11 10th = 7 14th = 3
3rd = 14 7th = 11 11th = 6 15th = 2
4th = 13 8th = 9 12th = 5 16th = 1









HEAD TO HEAD BRACKETS:
The top 4 riders from each Arenacross Class heat race will earn 1 Championship Point for competing in the Head to Head Bracket Race. Riders will be bracketed where 1st will race 8th and 2nd will race 7th, etc. Last rider standing will earn 1 additional Championship Point. A combined total of the bracketed race and both main events will determine the overall winner for the night.

ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible to compete in the Arenacross Class or the Arenacross Lites Class, riders must be 14 years of age or older as of January 1st, 2014, and be an “A” level rider. A pro license is not required to race the Arenacross or Lites Class. All participants in the Arenacross and Lites Class must hold a current AMA membership.

Riders who finished top 10 in points from the previous year’s Arenacross Class, 450SX or 250SX Class are not eligible to compete in the Arenacross Lites Class at the first event of the series. Beginning with round 1 night 2 of the 2014 series, the top 10 riders in points in the Arenacross Class, 450SX Class or 250SX Class are not eligible to compete in the Arenacross Lites Class.

RICKY CARMICHAEL'S ROAD TO SUPERCROSS:

A rider must complete the Ricky Carmichael Road to Supercross to earn their 250SX endorsement prior to racing Monster Energy AMA Supercross an FIM World Championship.

  1. Earn 3 Road to Supercross Points - 1 Road to Supercross point is earned by each rider who qualifies for the night program in the Arenacross Class.
  2. A rider must attend a minimum of 3 AMSOIL Arenacross Events to earn a 250SX Endorsement.

DRUGS AND ALCOHOL POLICY:
All race personnel, officials, riders, mechanics and anyone associated with riders and photographers must not consume or be under the influence of intoxicants or drugs that could affect their normal mental or physical ability. Besides affecting the safety of the meet, any such use is inconsistent with the concept of good sportsmanship and is harmful to the sport of motorcycling. Anyone found to be in violation of these policies is subject to disciplinary actions and can lead to forfeiture of AMA license or event credential.
