MUSKEGON , Mi. (March 6, 2011) – Babbitts Motor Sports Racing

Puts up their 8th win!

With the Babbitt’s Monster TiLUBE Kawasaki presented by Maxxis

Tire team in full-on express mode, they rolled into the Intrust Arena

in Wichita, Kansas to continue their charge for the 2011 AMA

Arenacross Championship.   By the end of the night, the team would

have won every race they lined up for, and nearly had another full

podium sweep as the trio of Tyler Bowers, Chad Johnson, and Gray

Davenport would eventually finish 1st, 2nd, and 4th when the checkers flew.

Early in the evening program both Davenport and Bowers would win

their respective heat races, and later during the Dash for Cash race,

Bowers again came out the victor.

Taking the holeshot in the main event was Gray Davenport who would

later say “I killed the holeshot, and was in first place until just after the

half- way point when Chad and Tyler got by me.”  Toward the end of the

main, Davenport would come into a few issues; adding “lapped riders

were very difficult to get around; next weekend will be better!”

Davenport would then finish fourth overall.  During the second half of

the race it was an all-out “friendly war” between teammates Johnson

and Bowers for the win – as Johnson had it and didn’t want to give it up!

But Bowers was on mission; after starting just inside the top ten, he was

not ready to settle for anything other than a win.  Going through the

rhythm section on the last couple laps, Bowers got by Johnson, and the

two would finish a close first and second.

“I started about fifth or sixth but then made a few small mistakes; I then

put my head down and made some passes.  I hit some people harder than

I wanted to, but after the mid-way through I worked my way past Gray

and into the lead.   Then Tyler caught me and went past just at the end”

explained Chad Johnson.

“Wichita went pretty good.  I had this odd positive attitude all day, in spite

of a bad start in the main.  Then the next thing that I knew I began picking

people off, and then passing Chad for the lead” said race winner Tyler Bowers.

Adding his thoughts on the nights racing Team Manager Denny Bartz added

“our guys won both heats, and Chad finished second to Tyler so they got to

line up first, second and third for the main.  They also finished first second

and third in the Dash for Cash, and then finished first, second, and fourth in

the main, so it was definitely a great night.  In the main, it appeared that it

was Tyler and Chad were the two guys’s finding places to pass.”

As the series rolls past the mid-point of the season, Tyler Bowers leads the

point standings with 277 points; 31 points over Jeff Gibson in second.

Chad Johnson is third with 242; just 4 points behind Gibson, while Gray

Davenport is in fourth with 189 points.

Now the Babbitt’s Monster Energy TiLUBE Kawasaki presented by

Maxxis Tires Team will make its way eastward to round 10 at the BI-LO

Arena in Greenville, South Carolina this coming weekend.   For more on the team,
