MUSKEGON , Mi. (March 28,2011) – Babbitts Motor Sports Racing®
This past weekend the Team was at the Verizon Arena in Little Rock,
Arkansas. It appeared that a black cloud suddenly appeared over the
Babbitt’s Monster TiLUBE Kawasaki presented by Maxxis Tire team
as unfortunately there so successful win streak came to an ending.
None-the-less Chad Johnson captured a podium spot with third, and
Tyler Bowers remains the point’s leader in the championship with just
two weekends remaining.
Early in the evening program Bowers would win his Heat race with
Johnson and Davenport also easily qualifying. However, as Team
Manager Denny Bartz would later say “The guys were riding great,
and were determined to do well. But with Tyler stalling his bike, and
the tough track conditions, it was just too tuff to overcome”.
Taking the team’s best start was Chad Johnson who would end up
on the podium with third. “My start was not too bad thanks to my
Maxxis Tires, but I made a few mistakes early. Later I regrouped
and worked my way into third. Of course I wanted better, but it was
just a difficult night” added Johnson.
Talking about his night, and eventual ninth place finish, Gray
Davenport said “I had about an fifth place start, but I couldn’t jump
the finish line jump on the first lap – that put me back just inside
the top ten. From that point on I just tried to move forward, but the
track was just very difficult to move through the pack on”.
“What can I say? I just had a bad night. I have to admit that I didn’t
really care for the track a whole lot; it was just very tight, slow, and
difficult for me to find a flow on. Still the team did an excellent job for
me; Maxxis Tires and our guys at Enzo really did an awesome job”
added Tyler Bowers. In spite of taking a poor start, and later stalling
his bike and getting lapped, the series point’s leader still finished an
incredible eleventh place.
Tyler Bowers continues to lead the point standings with 362 points;
38 points over Jeff Gibson in second. Chad Johnson continues to
challenge Gibson for that runner-up spot in the championship, and
has 318 points. Gray Davenport is currently fifth in points with 236.
Now the Babbitt’s Monster Energy TiLUBE Kawasaki presented by
Maxxis Tires Team will make its way to the penultimate round at the
Metro Center in Rockford, Illinois this coming weekend. For more
