MUSKEGON, Mi. (February 21,2011) – Babbitts Motor Sports Racing®
Following up on his home state Kentucky win, Tyler Bowers took his
Team Babbitt’s Monster Energy TiLUBE Kawasaki presented by
Maxxis Tires KXF450 to a commanding win on Friday’s nights
AMA Arenacross in Reno, Nevada. Friday Night also saw Chad
Johnson finish fourth, and Gray Davenport finishes ninth after a
first turn pile-up. Saturday night saw another win by Tyler Bowers
with teammates Chad Johnson finishing second and Gray Davenport
finishing fourth respectively
Bowers took the early lead on Friday and checked out – by mid-point
he was a good 12 seconds ahead of second place! Unfortunately
both Johnson and Davenport were involved in a first turn crash
which saw them round lap one in in last, and next-to-last! Still
Johnson would make his way through the pack to finish a strong
fourth with Davenport clocking in at ninth.
On Saturday night Bowers went from a fifth place start into first
within seven laps! Chad Johnson started a few positions behind
Bowers; worked his way into third, and then passed second place
rider Jeff Gibson for second with two laps remaining. Gray began
his early laps hovering just inside the top ten until working his way
into sixth by race end.
“The track was really tough this weekend; the whoops were very
deep, and there were lots of them, but all three riders rode great.
Tyler is starting to get back up to the speed that he had last year,
and is setting a pace that is hard for the other riders to maintain
for more than just a few laps. Chad’s starts are getting better,
and that is going to get him some more main event wins soon.
Gray’s doing better and setting some decent lap times; he just
needs to focus on the whoops” commented Team Manager
Denny Bartz.
Now with a four race win streak, and 12 point lead over Jeff
Gibson in second, Tyler Bowers looks forward to next weekend’s
event at the ARCO Arena in Sacramento, CA. There Tyler will
hope to extend his win streak, while Chad Johnson chases down
Gibson for second in points. Gray Davenport currently sits sixth
in points, but plans on moving into the top five.
