Weekend Race Report brought to you by Maxxis
2010 AMA Arenacross season opener went down this weekend at the Van Andel
Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The 2 night race format was dominated by
Babbitt's Monster Energy Ti-Lube Kawasaki Team and owner Eddie Babbitt couldn't
be more proud! “The weekend was a total success! The Maxxis tires hooked up
great on the tacky clay, the suspension, the engines, the bikes are insane!
Merge Racing Technologies crew built the bikes to win! The way my riders charged
through the pack both nights proved it!”, exclaimed Eddie.
The Friday night action started fast! Josh Demuth took the 1st win of the
night in heat 1. During the main event Demuth went down and had to battle to a
8th place finish. Chad Johnson kept the momentum going with podium finish taking
3rd in his heat race. Johnson had a rough start to the main event, pinched off
in the 1st corner, forcing Johnson to power through the pack to claim the
victory! With a back row start in the main event, Tyler Bowers got in behind
Chad Johnson and freight trained through the pack finishing the main in 4th
place!
Following the highlights of Friday nights race, the Babbitt's Monster Energy
Ti-Lube Kawasaki Team kept the success going into Saturday nights packed Van
Andel Arena.
Josh Demuth finished 4th in his heat. In the main event Demuth pulled the
hole shot and lead the race for 8 of the 25 laps, before teammate Tyler Bowers
passed him for the lead. Tyler Bowers definitely brought his A Game, winning his
heat and setting the fastest lap time giving Bowers the 1st gate pick in the
main. When the gate dropped Bowers started in 3rd place and worked his way past
Zach Ames for 2nd, then on lap 8 he passed Josh Demuth for the lead and never
looked back.
Look for the Babbitt's Monster Energy Ti-Lube Kawasaki Team on the podium
during next weekends race at the Mariner Arena in Baltimore, Maryland on 1/15
-1/16. Come out and check out the action!
